    How long is the contract period?

    Answer

    The contract period is one (1) year. For the following year and thereafter, the contract will be automatically renewed unless you notify SHIMA SEIKI sixty (60) days prior to the contract expiration date to suspend the contract renewal.

    How do I know when my software license will start?

    Answer

    The start date of the software license is the contract start date as stated in the subscription information email sent to you by SHIMA SEIKI after your payment is completed.

    Can I specify a start date for using the software license when I first sign up?

    Answer

    You are able to specify your desired start date of the software license at the time of initial contract. However, the software license will not be activated on your specified start date, if SHIMA SEIKI is unable to confirm your payment of the license contract fee and running license fee no later than seven (7) days prior to your specified start date of the software license.

    What is License Contract Fee?

    Answer

    License contract fee is required when signing up for a new or additional software license, excluding options, regardless of whether or not there is an existing software license contract. There is no need to pay this again when renewing your contract for the following years.

    Running license fee is an annual fee for use of the software license. In addition to the license contract fee, running license fee is required depending on the software, options, and license type you have signed up for. Running license fee is required annually at the time of contract renewal.

    All software license users are required to sign up for SHIMA SEIKI Online Services (https://online-services.shimaseiki.com/en/), the web service provided by SHIMA SEIKI, and obtain User Authentication.

    How do I renew my software license?

    Answer

    Contract is automatically renewed for the following year and thereafter. SHIMA SEIKI will send you an invoice for the next year's annual running license fee upon renewal, and please complete your payment based on it no later than seven (7) days prior to the expiration date of your existing contract. If you do not wish to renew your contract, please notify SHIMA SEIKI no later than sixty (60) days prior to the expiration date of your existing contract that you do not wish to renew your contract.

    What happens if the running license fee for the next year is not paid in time no later than seven (7) days before the expiration date of existing software license (contract renewal date)?

    Answer

    The software license contract will be automatically terminated on the expiration date, and the software license will be suspended. In such a case, SHIMA SEIKI will not be liable for any direct or indirect damages incurred by the customer or any third party in connection with the suspension of the software license.

    Can I consolidate the payment of running license fees for multiple software licenses with different contract periods into a single annual payment?

    Answer

    You can consolidate the payment of running license fees for multiple software licenses to once per year by aligning the contract periods of software licenses to the same duration. Any running license fees for each license that do not amount to a full year's worth will be calculated based on a pro-rated monthly basis when consolidating multiple software license agreements to align their contract periods.

    Do I have to pay another license contract fee, if I change the contract period?

    Answer

    There is no need to pay license contract fee for the same software license again as long as that software license contract continues.

    What should I do if I do not wish to renew my software license?

    Answer

    Please notify SHIMA SEIKI no later than sixty (60) days prior to the expiration date of your contract that you wish to suspend renewing your contract for the following year. The software license subject to contract renewal suspension can be used until the expiration date of existing contract.

    Can I cancel the contract in the middle of the contract period?

    Answer

    The contract may not be cancelled in the middle of the contract period, and your paid running license fee will not be refunded regardless of whether or not the software is used.

    Will the license contract fee or running license fee be refunded at the end of the contract period or when I no longer use the software?

    Answer

    License contract fee or running license fee will not be refunded upon expiration of the software license contract, termination of the software license by SHIMA SEIKI, or in the event that the customer no longer use the software license for their own reasons.

    Can I just pay the running license fee and resume using the software, if I want to use the software again after the software license contract has expired?

    Answer

    It is not an ongoing contract, and you will need to pay both license contract fee and running license fee to restart using the software.

Contract of the option

  • Question

    What are options?

    Answer

    These are optional extensions that can be added to the respective software. In addition to running license fee for the software, running license fee for the options are required for use. For more information, please contact your nearest SHIMA SEIKI distributor.

    Can I sign up for additional options in the middle of my software license contract period?

    Answer

    Additional options can be subscribed while maintaining the original software license period by paying running license fee for the options calculated on a monthly pro-rata basis.

    Can I cancel only the options during the contract period of the software license?

    Answer

    Options cannot be cancelled in the middle of the contract period of the software license.

Change of the software or license type

  • Question

    Can I change the contract product to the other software or to the other license type?

    Answer

    It is possible to change your contract product as long as the products before and after the change are in the same product category (APEXFiz® Design or APEXFiz® PGM). You can change your contract product at any time during the contract period to meet your needs, regardless of when your contract is up for renewal.

    Can I keep the contract period of the software license I had before the change, if I change the software or the license type during the contract period?

    Answer

    You can change the software or the license type while maintaining the original contract period.

    Do I have to pay another license contract fee, if I change the software or the license type?

    Answer

    You will be required to pay the difference between the license contract fees for the software or the license type before and after the change. However, if the license contract fee before the change is higher than that after the change, the difference in the license contract fee will not be refunded at the time of the change.

    Do I have to pay another running license fee, if I change the software or the license type?

    Answer

    You will be required to pay the difference in running license fees between the software and license type before and after the change, calculated on a monthly pro-rata basis. However, if the running license fee before the change is higher than the running license fee after the change, the difference in running license fees at the time of the change will not be refunded.

    If I change the software or the license type for a software license with an option, how will the option be handled after the change?

    Answer

    You can continue using the option based on the original contract period, if the required option remains the same before and after the software or the license type change. However, if the required options differ before and after the change, the remaining original option fee for the rest of contract period will not be applied toward a part of the new option fee, and you will need to sign a new contract for the newly required option.

Discount

  • Question

    Are there any discounts available?

    Answer

    Discount will be applied to the running license fee for the APEXFiz® Design software in accordance with the SHIMA SEIKI's rules, if you contract a certain number of licenses with or without option, within the same account for software in the Design category. However, the license type (User License or Floating License) must be the same for the license to be eligible for the discount.

    Will the discount continue, if I do not renew my contract for some software licenses and the number of licenses under contract decreases?

    Answer

    Discount will not be applied at the next contarct renewal of each software license, if the number of licenses under contract is less than a certain number.

  • Question

    Are there any discounts on license contract fee or options?

    Answer

    Discount is to be applied to the running license fee for the software only and not to be applied to the license contract fee or the running license fee for the options.

  • Question

    Can we combine the number of licenses to receive the discount, if we have multiple license contracts for different departments separately within the same company?

    Answer

    Discount will not be applied across accounts, even if the customers' accounts are within the same company or organization.
