WHOLEGARMENT is used for knitting shoes with sock-like fit and comfort.
DIAMANT srl is a shoe manufacturer that performs OEM production of high performance sport shoes in addition to its original shoe brand “DMT” in the city of Verona in northern Italy, Veneto.
The "KR1" cycling shoe developed in collaboration with 2018 Italian champion sprinter Elia Viviani is knit on SHIMA SEIKI's SWG091N2 15G WHOLEGARMENT flat knitting machine.
By using 3D knit for the entire upper and reinforcing the inside of the shoe, a comfortable, sock-like fit is realized that softly wraps the foot.
Beginning with knitted work-glove applications, SHIMA SEIKI currently supports knitting, shaping and cutting of functional fabrics and materials that clear various safety guidelines in industrial, police and security, fire-fighting and military applications. These include such features as cut-resistance, heat-resistance, electrical insulation and chemical resistance.

Compression Wear
Body scan data is converted to 3D data on the design system, and garment patterns are produced. A knitting program is produced based on those patterns, allowing a custom-fit garment to be produced on a WHOLEGARMENT knitting machine. By varying material and stitch structure, small adjustments can be made to compression rate and location, allowing such medical applications as treatment of lymphedema and other conditions.
